Our loyalty cards are exactly the same size, shape and thickness as a bank card or credit card

The plastic cards we make are printed full colour both sides, are the exact same shape, size and thickness as a bank card or credit card. We can make them in different shapes and thicknesses if required.

We don't charge any setup fees or other rubbish. You do need to give us artwork designed to our specifications. Don't have a designer? We recommend Workhouse Design.

Add numbers or barcodes to track the usage of your loyalty cards

At a minimum you will need to number your cards so you can tell the difference between each card, unless you plan on offering the same discount to every cardholder. If you have a smaller business, don't have an EPOS till or just want to test the market then you should go for just numbered cards. There are numerous loyalty apps which you can set up on an old iPad or an

Barcoding just makes it easier to enter the card number.

Add a magnetic stripe so your loyalty cards will work with your till or EPOS system

Magnetic stripes can carry card data, so they can be swiped in a till that has a stripe reader built in. We can encode stripes to work with any EPOS system, you just need to find out the format from the company that installed the till. We can sort this out with your till installer.

How do I use loyalty cards to award points to customers?

You can track usage of loyalty cards in a few ways, listed below in order of cost :

1. Magnetic Stripe cards or Barcode Cards that work with a till or EPOS system. Every time a card is swiped it adds points to the customer record in the database.

To get this to work, you need to set up the till to work with the cards. See the section below EPOS system questions, you can forward that section to your installer who will give you the info. If you're stuck at this point, we can liaise with your till installer to get the cards working.

2. Simple numbered cards – when a customer comes in you can type in the number to your system, or write it down by hand. This is a low-tech solution suited to small shops. Get cards with sections that can be stamped, like coffee loyalty cards. You can get stamps made up with a special symbol or your logo from companies like Boltons Stamps for about €10.

How do I design my cards?

You need to send us the artwork – you either design this yourself, or get someone to design the card for you.

Please see our artwork guides here. We can’t change the artwork once you send it to us, so either you need to be a professional designer, or know what you’re at to provide print ready artwork.

How do I get someone to design my cards? For this we do recommend using a graphic designer, we recommend Workhouse Design.

Or try the easy-to-use online design service at tweak.com. A card design from tweak costs as little as €7.95, and it works by giving you a range of templates to choose from. Simply choose the “Business Card” size and design your card accordingly. We can then use the PDF or EPS file that Tweak give you to download.

If you want a more involved design, we strongly recommend a graphic designer. A good designer will only charge €50 or so for a simple enough card design. Just give them our artwork specs and they should be able to provide correct artwork for us to print your cards. For brands and larger companies with corporate identities, please send us print ready artwork that conforms to our artwork specs.

If you're stuck to find a designer, either try our recommended designer or go onto elance.com or peopleperhour.com to hire a freelancer.

How Do I Order Cards?

There are three steps to ordering cards :

1. Get print-ready artwork made up. A graphic designer can do this for you. We can recommend graphic designers for you also.

2. Send us the print-ready artwork with instructions via the order form.

3. Sign off the proof we send you and make payment on the order, and your cards will be made and delivered to you.

Proofing

Once we get your artwork, we’ll send a PDF proof of the card with all the details, and you can approve it by email. We’ll also send an invoice with lots of easy ways to pay it. Then when you’re happy with the design, simply pay the invoice and we’ll get to printing the cards.

Why get loyalty cards?

It costs 5-10 times more to acquire a new customer than to upsell to existing customers, this is where loyalty schemes really are worth investing in.

Loyalty cards are any card that encourage your customers to come back to your shop, venue or business. They can be really simple and easy to setup, like “buy 9 coffees get one free” cards, to more complex ones that track customer usage and link to a database.

Loyalty Cards and Systems should be viewed as a way to track customer buying habits with a view to giving better offers and value.

If you want to track usage and add points to customer’s cards, then you need a loyalty system. Usually this will run on an EPOS terminal, so you need to have a modern till system. Your till installers will be able to add a loyalty card module to your till system, usually this will not cost much to do. Our cards can be made to work with any loyalty module or system. If you need some cards coded to test with your system, we’ll do some for you free of charge.

Read on to find out more about all types of loyalty cards. We’ve sorted them in order of expense:

Simple Loyalty Cards

The simplest (and cheapest) way to get plastic loyalty cards is to get cards printed up with your chosen design. When customers present this card they are given money off, or a discount, to give them and incentive to comeback .This approach is quick and cheap to implement. We’d recommend doing this if you’re not sure that a loyalty card will work for your business.

The limitations of this approach are that you can’t track usage, you can’t award points and the overall effectiveness of the loyalty campaign is quite limited.

Numbered Loyalty Cards or Stamped Cards

A slightly more expensive way to track usage is to number the cards, that way when a card is presented, a record can be kept. This would only be suited to online stores where the customer puts in the number, or small shops where there is time to record the card number in a book. Numbering adds less than 1c to each card.

We can also make loyalty cards that have boxes that can be stamped everytime they are presented, and once the card is filled with stamps, the customer gets a bonus. We can also get a custom stamp made up with your business logo if you want.

All of the above options are simple, but lack the ability to track usage or add points/rewards to cards. If you want to do this, see below.

Loyalty cards for EPOS systems

We can make cards that work with any loyalty system, all you need to do is tell us how to encode the cards. Your EPOS till provider can deal with us directly to sort this out.

We can make barcode, magnetic stripe, RFID or NFC based cards to work with your loyalty system. The first two are the most common and cheapest way to do this.

At the very basic level, a loyalty card just provides a way to look up a customer’s record on your loyalty database. No data or points are actually added to the card at any time, it just makes it easy for you to find that customer’s details.

Most EPOS systems allow for adding points, awarding bonuses for a given amount of purchases etc. You can decide all this using your system.

We recommend just numbering and encoding the cards, and not putting customer names on the cards. This makes it easier to issue cards and replace them - you just simply note that customer John Smith is card number 12345, rather than having to print a new card, and match that new card number to the old record.

If you want to personalise the cards with the cardholder name, we can provide a low cost plastic card printer to do this.

If you’re looking to do more than 5000 cards for a large store or chain of shops, we can match mount cards to application forms to collect customer data. The cards can be mounted to board carriers with EuroHook punched holes if required.

We recommend online data collection method to make data collection more efficient, i.e., get your customers to sign up online rather than send in a form.

The cheapest way to get membership cards is just to have them numbered only

Cheapest way to do membership cards is to get them printed with your design both sides, and get them sequentially numbered. Then you can assign each card number to a member in your database, so you know who has which card. The advantage of this method is if someone loses their card, you just give them another card from the box and update their number. This option is a bit impersonal as the cardholder does not have their name on the card.

Membership cards with member names printed on them

For the same cost as numbering we can merge your member database off to individual cards. There’s no extra cost for additional fields on the cards, so you can add as many attributes as you wish. The drawback here is that if more members join or you need to replace a lost card, you have to have a card printer to issue them.

Standard add-ons for cards

Add a magnetic stripe so you can swipe the card

By adding a magnetic stripe, we can encode a sequential number, or number from database (e.g. member number). The card can then be used to sign into events, gain access to restricted areas etc. You can get USB swipe card readers off ebay.co.uk for only €20. iPad, iPhone and smart phone based readers are also available. There are a number of cheap apps for tracking card usage that you can download in the App Store or Google Play store.

Add a signature panel so cardholders can sign the card

We can add a small area to the reverse of the card that can be signed with any normal pen. It's exactly the same as the bit on the back of a credit card or bank card that you sign.

Make the card a bit special with metallic colours, foil print or transparent plastic

If you want something special for your membership card, we can print it in any metallic colour, add a foil or rainbow hologram stamp, add matte lamination or make the card transparent. All these options will add a few cents per card.

We can post cards to your members for you

If you’ve got a yearly recurring requirement to mail out membership cards, we can pack the cards into a letter and mail the cards to every cardholder. This is available only to larger organisations with memberships of 2000+. Please contact us for more info on this.

Reasons to add barcoding or numbering

You need to at least add numbering to track usage of cards. Barcoding can be added to work with various EPOS systems and loyalty systems. We can make barcodes to work with any system, you just need to find out what format of barcode is required. Remember, the card itself stores no data, it just provides a reference to a customer's record, where the balance of the card is kept.

Reasons to add magnetic stripe, encoding and numbering

This just makes it easier to use the gift card. Magnetic stripes can carry card data, so they can be swiped in a till that has a stripe reader built in. We can encode stripes to work with any EPOS system, you just need to find out the format from the company that installed the till.

How do I add and subtract the balance on a gift card?

You can track usage of loyalty cards in a few ways, listed below in order of cost :

1. Magnetic Stripe cards or Barcode Cards that work with a till or EPOS system. When a gift card is swiped, the EPOS system will bring up the gift card management section, where a balance can be added to the card, or taken away and applied against a purchase.

To get this to work, you need to set up the till to work with the cards. See the section below EPOS system questions, you can forward that section to your installer who will give you the info. If you're stuck at this point, we can liaise with your till installer to get the cards working.

2. Simple numbered cards – when a customer buys a gift card, you can enter the number on the card into your till or PC by hand, or write it down by hand in a book. This is a simple way to start selling gift cards without buying a new system or investing in readers etc.

How do I design my cards?

For us to print your cards, you need to send us artwork correctly formatted to our specs.

So you either design the card yourself, or have someone design it for you.

Please see our artwork guides here

How do I get someone to design my cards? For this we do recommend using a graphic designer, we recommend Workhouse Design.

Or try the easy-to-use online design service at tweak.com. A card design from tweak costs as little as €7.95, you just need to select "Gift Card" from the design menu and it will give you a list of template designs to choose from.

Once you have the artwork done, send us the artwork by email using the contact form, along with how many cards you want etc. You can phone us (01 2005200) once you’ve emailed the artwork to discuss.

We then proof your order, once it is signed off by you, we send the cards to print. Depending on the service level chosen, it can take between 5 and 15 working days to receive your cards.

Proofing

Once we get your artwork, we’ll send a PDF proof of the card with all the details, and you can approve it by email. We’ll also send an invoice with lots of easy ways to pay it. Then when you’re happy with the design, simply pay the invoice and we’ll get to printing the cards.

Why get gift cards?

Gift cards allow you to book revenue in advance, without providing any product. If you sell a gender specific item, you can increase your market share to the other gender by offering gift cards. So for example a beauty salon with a predominantly female customer base can expand sales to men who want to buy gift cards as presents.

Many businesses enjoy a large boost in revenue before Christmas from gift cards, allowing them to get through the quiet months of January and February easily. Lots of gift cards are never redeemed by customers also.

A gift card can go on to become a loyalty card once the balance is spent, if you call it a privilege card instead - many large stores and chains do this.

Blank White Cards

Blank white hotel keycards with a brown (lo-co) magnetic stripe are the most popular type of hotel key card. These are cheap and are rarely kept by guests for sentimental reasons.

One Colour Printed Cards

We can personalise hotel key cards with a black, blue, red, green, silver or gold print to the face of the card for a few extra cent per card. This is not a very high resolution process and isn't suited to replicating images, only simple text and logos.

Colour Blank Cards

It is possible to get silver, gold, copper and other base colour cards stock from as little as 500 per colour. These can also be overprinted like above for a few extra cents per card.

Full Colour Printed Hotel Key Cards

For more upmarket card applications, we can print high resolution graphics, text and images both sides on any kind of hotel key card. These are cheaper than our standard colour cards as there is less processing involved.

Small quantities of cards for events, weddings or parties

We can print quantities as little as 50 on chip or magnetic stripe cards for corporate or sporting events, parties or weddings. In the case of chip cards, we need to have previously unused, clean cards in their original box to maintain a quality print.

We can print vibrant high definition photographs, even personalise cards with names and numbers.
